I have had new truck take off's, FIRESTONE WILDERNESS, series 265-70x16 on my wife's surb. for less than a week, when she had the thread come off the sidewalls while she was taking our daugther to the dentist on the interstate. Has anyone else had this problem with this size of FIRESTONE WILDERNESS???

I have not heard of any problems with this size of Firestone tires, but it does not surprise me. I will never use Firestone tires again. Why would I? With all the problems they have had in the recent past, I'll just stay away. Maybe the problems were with just one model of tire, maybe the problem was with the vehicle, maybe it was the driver. Who cares what the problem is - there is no advantage to using a firestone tire over Michelin, good year, etc. so why even chance it.

i could be wrong, but that doesn't sound like a road hazard issue to me. If i were you, i'd go back to the place i got those tires and make them replace it. that's ridiculous.

also, i'd stay away from F-stone, too. if not only for the safety concern, then because they're crappy tires. I had the stock F-stones on my Yukon for 62K miles, and they wore well, but man were they noisy compared to my Michelins. I'd pay the extra money to get a better tires (Michelin, Goodyear, whatever) and have the peace of mind to know that my family's safer and this problem won't happen again.

Just out of curiousity, what state do you live in?
