Clear Bra?

Hello everyone, new guy here... just got a 2004 Silverado 2500HD 6.0 4x4 and it's just !@#$#! awsome... I just have a question, the clear bra that came with it... is this meant to be taken off? If not, will it fade at some point, and look really crappy?

No picks as of yet, I will take some this weekend, although the clear bra won't show up in the pics - it is a thin transparent film protecting the front of the truck from chipping and those nasty skeeters... I was just wondering if this film gets ugly after a while.

 

I got a reply in the HD forum indicating that this "bra" should last 5-7 years and remain pretty much invisible unless you look closely for it.

OK, gotcha now... Is that the 3M film stuff? I looked into it a year or two ago...

I added one to my 04. Mine is called an InviciShield. Its purpose is to prevent bugs and rocks from eating/chipping the paint on the most vunerable spot on the hood. I added it to my grill, top of cab near the windshield and door edges.

 

It is not meant to be removed. My instructions advise that if you do want it removed you must heat it to over 100 degrees.

 

Once removed the paint it protected will appear factory fresh. Basically, if you don't like it, remove it now. I say leave it alone.

Thanks guys, I think I will leave it on. My truck is white, so I don't think too much color difference will take place over time.
