Clear bra?

Hello everyone, new guy here... just got a 2004 Silverado 2500HD 6.0 4x4 and it's just !@#$#! awsome... I just have a question, the clear bra that came with it... is this meant to be taken off? If not, will it fade at some point, and look really crappy?

If you are referring to 3M paint protection film, then the answer is no, it is not intended to be taken off. It should easily last 5-7 years.

 

I had my clear bra film installed in March when I bought my 04 Sub. Works great. Just wash and wax (non abrasive) like you would your bumpers or any other painted plastic surface.

 

I think the film looks a lot better than fabric bras and bug deflectors. Most people won't notice it unless they look closely. And a sheet of film on the hood is still cheaper than a repaint for chips.

 

I have to ask, did the dealer put it on? It is not a factory feature - rather one that someone installs after the dealer receives it.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll keep it on then, I can see how it would help prevent chipping, etc, I just wasn't sure if it would get ugly after a little while. And to answer your question... I guess the bra was installed at the dealer, it is not listed in the MSRP sticker.
