Been busy using it. Love everything about it except a few little things. One is the MPG, still only getting 13... Guess I should expect this for a truck, hard to clean the rear window without taking it out, hard to clean the top without a ladder. (like any of these are real issues!). It has done everything I have asked, haul lumber, move a fridge, take junk to the dump. Most people complain about the cladding. I have found that it does a great job protecting the doors. Someone opened their door right into the cladding the other day and no damage. As hard as they hit it if the cladding had not been there it would have been a chip at least (more likely a dent).

As for accessories I am looking at some of the standard GM items. I am also looking at a GPS based nav system (but these tend to be pricey!). As far as mods I am still not sure what I want to do, maybe a FIPK or a chipset maybe different wheels just don't know yet.

So far, no complaints and don't anticipate any. I love this truck! The attention this thing still draws is amazing! I took it camping with my wife and three kids - had no problem carrying gear for a weekend of camping and jet skiing. I'm getting an average of 16 mpg which is not bad for a tuck this size. I have found it fairly easy to keep clean. The cladding, which I think looks pretty good, is very easy to clean and keeps things dent free. I've hauled dirt bikes, logs, lumber, everything I hauled in my '93 Silverado with no complaints. The back end is pretty high and does take some care when backing up. The ride is extremely smooth and quiet.

Haven't done any mods yet. Would like to get the chip, possibly a lowering kit when they come out. The Basecamp tent thing is cool - may have to invest in that. I notice your antenna is not visible. Did you take it off for the pics or have you replaced it with an automatic one?

Hey "Avalanche" -

I see (from your sig) that you have a sunroof and a roof rack! Is the roof rack set back "behind" the sunroof? My dealer was not able to show me this configuration.

I'm really thinking my order will be a white one with Graphite interior.

I've had my AV since June 30 and have been waiting for the roof rack. Last week, I called in and they told me it had arrived and I'm scheduled to get it installed tomorrow. So, if you give me a day, I'll be able to answer your question with certainty. However, If you look at the concept Avalanche at the following website, the roof rack sits behind the sunroof.

I have a suspicion, though, that the factory rack I ordered will be different from the one in the picture. That's because I saw a different-looking rack (which I liked more than the one in the concept pictures) on another AV driving past me a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't tell from the angle, though, whether they had a sunroof. So, I'll let you know tomorrow.

Why is it that I find myself getting jealous of other Avalanche owners when I see their AVs in different colors other than my own Victory Red? I still think red is best, but its too bad there isn't a button to push for changing colors to suit my mood! Wish I had money to burn so I could get one of each.

Color has been my biggest decision. Sure wish they would have offered the Storm Gray like the rados!

Comes down to it, I really don't care what color it is, I just love the truck!

We ordered yesterday (Pewter/Graphite), Z66 w/ leather, sunroof and convenience package! Dealer tells me take about 6 weeks? Anyone have a clue how long to get from factory. I would think with all the "Siestas" and Tequilla it might take a little longer? I know I can track it from TPW and the railroad thing. I'll just be patient. #### I may go down and just buy one off their lot (the thougth has crossed my mind!).

You must be from up north because here in Texas, they're becoming much easier to come by. I was at the dealer this morning and they had 9 on the lot, several of them Z66s. I originally ordered mine and they told me 6-8 weeks. However, a week later, they called me up and had a red one just like I wanted on the lot. The only compromise was that the seats were leather with cloth accents. I'm glad I took it because the cloth accents really jazz up the interior.

Avalanche,

Not NoCal, SoCal (Orange Co).

My dealer has bout 50 AV's on his lot however, I am buying through the GM employee program and will save about ? by ordering (GMO), as opposed to the price I can get if I take one from a dealer stock (GMS). ####, I'm all worked up and don't know if I can wait 6-8 weeks. I may call back and see if they have one to my specs on their lot and forgo the ?.

I'll let you guys know!
