Raven Muffler

HELP HELP HELP! I really wanted to put a performance muffler on my 04 silverado 5.3L ext cab. I didnt want to spend much money and i let the guys at Midas talk me into a Raven 55 series muffler. They said it was quieter than a 50 series flowmaster and said it would have no drone....well it does have a drone....from 1700-2300 rpm it is very loud inside the truck. Dont know if i am being overly sensitive of the sound, but i drives me crazy....it sounds great under acceleration or at idle....very deep, but too much drone. Does anyone have any suggestions for a quieter muffler with no drone that still produces a nice tone? I have single exhaust with a sharp tip installed. Very frustrated here....oh by the way....newbie here.....just bought truck in april......love the forum here. Any help will be very appreciated.

Sorry to hear somebody made a buck off of you and your not happy...

I dont know what to do to solve your problem but can tell you I have the Flowmaster 50SUV on my ride and have enjoyed it and like the sound. There is a noticable (barely) rumble at around 2000 rpm when cruising but it dosent bother me. I wife complains about it though. It does sound really nice under a quick acceleration.

I'd suggest you get the 22" Magnaflow, single 3" inlet/single 3" outlet. I recently replaced an Imco Turbo muffler with the Magnaflow and I'm finally happy with the sound and the performance...and NO drone.

I've had the flowmaster duals with a pronounced drone as well as the Imco and the Magnaflow beats them hands-down.

Thanks for the help guys.........i actually took the truck back to MIdas and told them the muffler was too loud....they replaced it with a 77 series Raven.(original was a 55 Series) its still has drone, but not as bad. Probably will just take it off, sell it on ebay...and install the 22" magnaflow.........wish i had done that in the first place.

Oh well......live and learn.
