HELP!!!

ok, here is the problem......i bought an '04 silverado ext cab 5.3L.....i wanted to "beef" up the sound....so i had a 55 series Raven (midas) installed.........sounded good, but the drone from 1700-2200 rpm was teeth rattling. Went back and complained....they changed the muffler from a 55 series to a 77 series Raven.........helped a little but still WAY to much drone. By this time with the tip i have spent $240. and still dont like it. I stopped by a different local muffler shop and talked to them about a 22" magnaflow..........i have read some threads claiming they dont have much drone......i had them order it and they will be installing it thursday afternoon.........very very nervous here........i am afraid it will still have too much drone......does anyone have the 22" magnaflow with the 5.3L out there? I need to hear from someone to help me to decide what to do.......i want it louder than stock, but i dont want my teeth to rattle when i drive it.

i have the magnaflow hd muffler which is what i think you are getting. it has no drone and a great sound. good luck. oh yay i have no cats and at 70 mph i can hear the tires over the exhaust.

Dude....you won't be disappointed. I just put a cat back with the 22" muffler on my 5.3 this past Saturday....it sounds great. You may notice a slight, slight drone while getting up to speed, but nothing obnoxious. Once you're cruising....silent.

Like everybody said you will love it I have one it sounds great, slite rumble at adle almost stock and when you give it gas it wakes up, no int drone.

You will get more preformance out of a magna than any other muff on the market for a daily driver

Thanks for the encouraging words.......i did find out that there are two 22" mufflers....one with straight thru and one with a Y design inside. The straight thru is the one with center/offset...which i am told is what our trucks require. I will soon know how it sounds, tomorrow is the day.....really hope it sounds good....by the time i get thru with tomorrow's installation i will have put$370. into the exhaust.....way more than i started out to do.

I think that's the price he's paid for previous exhaust work (flowmaster & magnaflow) trying to find the sound/performance he's looking for.

LOL, dont worry mu "bubble" busted long ago with this ehaust system.....the $370.. is actually the total i will have paid by the time i get the magnaflow on the truck......it will be the third muffler.....two ravens.....both SUCK and a tip i really do like and now the magnaflow......i get this installed this afternoon.....i will let u guys know how it sounds.....i am very hopeful that it will be what i am looking for.

OK Guys,

 

Had the 22" Magnaflow muffler installed today......MUCH MUCH better.....had great aggressive sound under acceleration.....but much quieter at 1700-2200 rpms....still hear it, but not at all loud....radio can cover it up. Just wish i had done this the first time and saved some money

The muffler i used is the 12589 Magnaflow. Very nice sound under acceleration, but quiet most of the time.

 

Good Luck.....dont make the same mistake i did......do your research first, THEN buy......that way u only buy once.
