Shocks???

Hello,

 

I have 19,000 or so miles on my 2003 Z71 and I believe the front shocks are already bad. My 2001 had over 70,000 miles on it and they were still decent. I can take my bumper and start bouncing it and after letting it go it bounces up and down like a basketball 3 or 4 times (squeaks too). Reminds me of my worn out 79 Cougar (with the parking lot size hood) bouncing up and down. Do i need new shocks or is it something else? Thanks!

It's always possible that one of the front shocks is bad... I'd let your dealer take a look at it.

You should still be covered for that under warranty. I had my front shocks replaced twice under warranty for squeaking noises.

Stock shocks suck. Some people get 50,000 miles and others get 15,000. I changed mine at 14,000 to Monroe Reflex shocks and love them. I didn't 'need' to, though. I just wanted to.

Before I got my '98 fullsize in July I had an '03 s-10,4cyl 5 spd/ RCSB 2wd. With only 15,000 highway miles the front shocks were shot. all the fluid was leaking out of both fronts. The dealer would have changed them, but I wanted to get rid of that truck anyway . The '98 has Monroe gas Magnums on it and they seem pretty nice.
