Silverado 1500 HD QS vs. 2500 Differences?

Forgive the newbie question, I'm brand new here...

What are the real differences (beyond nameplate and cost) between the 1500 HD QS and the 2500?

Assuming each has the 6.0L V8, they appear to be the same platform? I have seen here and elsewhere that there are differences in the gearing between the two over the years, but otherwise what are you buying if you get the 2500 with the same drivetrain?

Thanks in advance for your help...

I believe the 1500HD and the 2500 (non-HD) are very similar as far as the driveline is concerned. The 1500HD QS, I'm assuming, is the quadrasteer option...

Of course this depends on the model years, because the newer trucks have been rebadged.

(Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

Yep, The 1500HD and the 2500 non-HD (crew-cab,short-bed) are the same truck,Both have a GVWR of 8600 lbs.

So your buying the same truck no matter if its a 1500HD or a 2500 non-HD in the crew-cab,short-bed configuration.
