I have installed a couple of these for customers who purchased them from a shop in our town that is now out of business. Anyone have a source for precut vinyl, preferably from 3M?

 

I have found one place on eBay, but thought I'd check with y'all first.

So if you are concerned about concours quality application on your hood, you better off going with a local installer.

 

If you simply want to keep the paint from getting shredded at the rocker panels, then this may worth the tradeoff in cost.

I have heard that for the hood any way it's better just to get a full sheet of the 3M stuff and cutting it your self that way you can cut it 1/4 or 3/8" bigger and wrap it around the underside of the hood. This will help it from peeling off as the precut kits cut the panels to the exact size and don't leave any extra to wrap around the bottom. But for the fenders I guess you would have to go with the pre cut kit as there is nowhere to wrap it around. I don't know but thats what I would do.

I have a pre-cut kit on mine (Xpel) that does not wrap around the edges. But it still works pretty well. My installer said he doesn't like the edge wrap because the film doesn't lie as flat - seems like the film can handle edges fine.

 

I took a couple of left over strips and ran them on the leading edges of the fender right behind the headlight assy. Also added a 1" strip on the leading edge of the fender flares - how the hell to bugs manage to hit there?!! Edges are tricky, especially as the size of the sheet you are working with increases or the curviness of the surface.
