Heated Mirrors

Hello everyone.... I have a 2005 GMC Sierra Z71 that does not have heated mirrors but I would like to put some on the truck. My question is if I get the heated mirrors would they be plug and play? Is all the wiring in place already?

Are you sure you don't have heated mirrors already? I'm only asking because unless GMC took them out as std.equipment for '05 they should be there as part of the Z71 pkg. They were for '04.

Get in your glove box and look at the RPO label for the mirror code which should be something like DL8,DR4 or DL3,Let me know what it says then I will let you know what mirrors you have.

One other question,are the mirrors you have now power adjust?

I think if you have heated mirrors you will have a "LITTLE MIRROR WITH ARROWS" printed on the mirror in the upper outside corner of the mirror.

 

But the best way to see if you are suppose to have them is to check the RPO codes in the glove box.

I just checked and there is a RPO code of DL8 and I turned on the rear window defroster and sure enough the mirrors warmed up. I was just assuming that there would be the little heat emblem on the mirrors if the feature was there.

 

Another question on the mirrors... if I were to get some of the factory signal mirrors that are heated would they be plug and play with the wiring already there? I do not have the controls on the steering wheell.

GM quit putting the heated mirror symbol on the mirrors a few years back,the only way to tell now is to look at the RPO label or if the the truck has a rear window defogger switch turn it on and feel the mirrors for heat.
