i'm installing a dual battery kit and need to find a power source that is hot with the key in the run and start postition only. can someone tell me where to look?

Give us some more deatils...what truck,year, etc.

Most obvious place would be at the ignition switch, although maybe not the easiest. You can check with a test lt or voltmeter while turning the key from off to run, etc.
