Is it true?

Is it true, shorter the muffler the louder it is? I am trying to choose which size of muffler to replace my stock. Right now I am looking at the Magnaflow 5x11 (MAG14589) and that is one long muffler. So should I go with a smaller size?

You're right on about the muffler length.

I got a Magnaflow Stainless Single 3/2.5 dual out.. Part # 14288, I can't remember the length right off hand (maybe 18"), but its pretty loud. (Check the link in my sig for pics and sound files.)

Good luck!

Gotcha, I sure to go with a 18'" muffler. Thanks for your input.. BTW the model number I am going with is "14259"..... Thanks....

I recently had a MagnaFlow (#12198 MagnaFlow Performance Aluminized 5" x 8" 14" Body) installed on my Silverado, 6.0 dual in single out. And it sounds great. Not obnoxious! I left the factory pipe after the muffler on. It has a deep throughty sound. Very cool sound

I put the MagnaFlow 24" dual 2 3/4" in and single 3" out with a new mandrel bent pipe to the rear. Its very sophisticated sounding if you will. Not too loud but enough to let you know your playing with more power than most. In the past, on my old 96 with the vortech 350, I put the shorter 18" MagnaFlow on, and it was considerably louder at all RPM ranges but Im happy with the 24" I have now.
