Father-in-laws '97 s10 4.3 won't run. Has recent plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Truck still sputters and runs pretty weak. Now it won't run at all. Put scanner on it and got P0300-multiple random cyliner misfire, I think P0402-catalyst inefficiency bank 1, and last one I have no clue P1430-(again I think going from memory, didn't think I was going to post tonight) something about manufacturer controlled emissions control?

What's going on??

Was the recent tune up performed correctly? Check plug wire connections and routing, check for proper rotor install, correct plug type. Is there adequate spark present? Fuel pressure and quality. Check the coil to distributer connection. It sounds to me as thou there is insuficient spark or fuel. I have Helm shop manuals that use very good diagnostic aids that cover this vehicle. If you need any further assistance contact me.

I have double checked most all of that stuff, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a once over again. Seen elsewhere on here that these engines have a very small orifice in fuel injector poppet vlave that gets clogged. Could this be it?
