Windshield noise?

Ok, I have a 2004 chevy silverado, I experienced the same thing with my 2001 when I put a bug deflector on it and I had to put double sided 3m tape between the glass and the weather stripping. So now I just put a bug deflector on the 2004 and I hear the same noise, I thought gm changed this design. Has anyone experienced this with new silverados?

What does the noise sound like and where do you hear it? My '02 Silverado makes a noise at highway speeds that sounds like a flapping piece of paper. It sounds to me like it's coming from the defroster vent area. I noticed the other day that the plastic cowl vent panel is a little loose where it lays against the outside of the w/s. Maybe that's what is making the noise? I'll have to secure it and re-check.

jaslo- You'll need to do the 3M tape thing again. My '03 did the same thing when I put my bug deflector on. The tape fixed everything.

Doozer- It should work for you too. Flapping paper is exactly what the sound is. I'd try the 3M tape up the side of the windshield if I were you. That should fix your problem.

It's real easy. Just peel back the door seal up to the top of the windshield. Take the torx screws out of the molding piece. Pull gently as it is stuck on (sort of). Clean with alcohol and apply the 3M tape. Be sure to clean the windshield too with alcohol where the tape will be. Replace the molding being sure to stick it real well. Replace the screws and the door seal. Test drive.

Good luck to you guys! :banghead:
