Anyone know of an in cab source that would be good to tap into to power and DVD head unit and two LCD screens? I am trying to avoid running wires thru the firewall. Thanks

that will give it the ability to stay on all the time.

i personally like all my stuff to shut off with the truck and/or radio. if im turning the radio off i want it silent for some reason, so i like to mash one button and everything go off. so i hooked my screen and power invertor remote wires up with my amp remote wire. there's times when i wish it would stay on after i turn the key off, but that dont happen enough for me to mess with the wiring again.

Thanks guys. I have the monitors and head unit installed, just have to finish getting it wired. My daughter has been bugging me to finish it. It was her Christmas gift. If we ever get some decent weather up here in Michigan it shouldn't take too long.

If I were you I'd go with the option that allows you to keep it on all the time, and I'll tell you why:

I had the dealership install an aftermarket DVD player / dual headrest monitors in the 2003 Trailblazer when I bought it. I got it mainly for the kids to watch on longer trips, and it works well for that. But when they wired it up they didn't use a constant power source, so any time I stopped and killed the ignition the DVD stopped also. This wouldn't be so bad, except that the Movies2Go unit DOESN'T remember it's last point when it cuts off, so it forces you to restart whatever was going from the beginning, go through all the legal screens and possibly any non-bypassable precontent just to get to the main menu and movie, and then jump to the proper track (if you even know which one it was- we usually ended up doing the fast-forward thing until the kids said "STOP- it was there, daddy.:fume:. This was a big hassle that a continuous power source would have eliminated completely..

My $.02.

Good luck with your install.

Edit: Forgot to mention- this situation occurs more often than you might think, even on long trips. Every time we stopped for food, gas, or even a simple rest stop we had to go through the whole 9 yards again before we could get moving.
