I believe the 04 5.3L has drive-by-wire, but just look at the gas pedal.

Does it have electrical wires coming out of it or a cable?

Just look at the throttle body.. There would be a Cylindrical Servo motor on the side of it.. Or most likely if you have Traction Control you have Drive By Wire..

I believe that all 2004 GMC and Chevy truck models are electronic throttle control.
