Took it back for the rattle yesterday

Took it back finally for the rattle.

They called at 2:00, he said it's my HEATSHIELD I told him when I brought it in the first week I told him that's what it was. He said maybe they should listen to me more often He said it was full of debris and they cleaned it out and tightened it but it still rattles so they have to order some parts and I get to bring it back again.

I hope this is not an omen guys, I'm sick of the dealership.

Hey guys,

They ordered 4 dampners to fix it. We'll see if they can get this right.

For Christmas my brother and sis-in-law got me a bug/rock shield, and today they came over with my birthday present, rain/sun visors for my windows I have the sweetest brother, he installed everything today. Next I think I'll have to find some headlight covers

I'll let you know if they get it fixed this time..........I'm not holding my breath.

At least this isn't as serious as the poop with the 02, just a pain spending more time at the dealership. Maybe if they hired some better looking mechanics I wouldn't mind being there as much

Yes ma'am I am. Only I am lucky and work in the private sector. I work for a private University. Fleet supervisor for a fancy title. Will be there till I die. (hopefully)

Just don't try and do that while you're driving...Indiana Jones style.

On another note...If they didn't buy you the GM bug shield, you might start getting a "tapping" noise on the windshield at higher speeds. Easily fixed, but fairly common.

Just a heads up.

Don't be suprised if the new parts don't fix it,GM has a TSB out on this issue that says its because of moisture that is in between the muffler and heat shield that is expanding and making popping and rattling sounds.

There is no fix at this time,you might want to do what one of our guys did here in the body shop on his '03 2500HD and just remove the shield,he has had no noise since he removed it early last year.

MS3dale, thanks for the reply, I haven't seen that thread.

Isn't the heat shield there for a reason though? I wouldn't want to remove it if it could cause a problem. How hot does it get?

This will really suck if I have to listen to this thing all the time. People turn their heads when you drive by. It's much louder outside the vehicle than inside.
