Low Coolant light

I have a 99 z-71 and the low coolant light will not go off. I have topped off the coolant till the overflow tank spilled over and it is still on. Where do Igo from here? Thanks

Unplug the sensor on the bottom of the overflow/fill tank and clean out the plug and the connector on the bottom of the tank, spray it with a electro cleaner if you have it, let dry and plug back in.

hope this helps. if this don't work you might need a new sensor

Mine has come on 3 times in the 3 1/2 years I've owned the truck. I figured it's a bad sensor, and everything has been OK when I've shutdown and restarted the truck.

I don't know if the sensor is a float or not, but if the coolant went low, it may be hung up and not floating back up, when this happens on my Beretta, I just gave the tank a whack after adding my quart or two of coolant.

This has happened a couple times on my 99 too. I have chosen to ignore the problem and it hasn't happened again in several months. Hopefully it won't happen again or I will try Shocklook's approach.

its kinda common its not a true float type just senses if its sumerged or not and they do act up at times. live with it or replace it . im not sure on the 99's but i know the newer ones gm had the brillant idea of making it molded into the tank and not serviceable  you have to replace the whole tank
