Bed Covers

Ok guys, I am interested in getting a bed cover for my truck. What seems to be a good bed cover? A place in Knoxville carries an ARE cover that has a lifetime warranty and painted to match the truck for around ?. I don`t really want to give this kind of price but this is the only place I have looked so far. Where and what kind of price should I expect to pay for one of these.

We are talking about the flat fiberglass covers that lock  right?  I have never personally searched for one but have read alot of posts about them.  ? is about middle of the price range I have read about....seems they ranged from ? to ? or so....

I had a Pace Edwards rolltop on my 99 GMC. For day to day use and security and weather proof, that type of cover is something to look at. I paid around ? for mine and it was worth every bit. You do lose a little bed space. For my new truck, I am looking at a Roll-n-lock or a Retrax along with the new Pace Edwards. The latests options include power operation and clamp on installation so no screw holes in the truck bed. Prices I've found start at ? on up.

I was looking at a fiderglass one for mine also, but I really use my bed more than I thought I would.  Mostly hauling my mountain bike to and from the trails.  It's nice to be able to just roll it up or completely remove it in about 5 minutes.  I am considering one for my 70 though, since it has the wood bed in it.  Have you tried East Coast Customs up in Maryville?  Or even Performance Products over on Broadway.  Not sure if PP would carry if though, but could probably order it for you.  I got a couple of parts from them for my 70 and they were really nice guys!

Ilike the Checkmate FX covers from Checker products. They are the flush style and I thought looked the best. Not sure what they charge for paint, but they are around ?. www.checkerpro.com.

A guy I work with has a Sportcover brand, that he ordered through JC Whitney.  Paid ? before painting.  It looks good and he likes it.

I have been looking lately also. I have had a Gaylord lid before and it looks like I am going to have another. Godfathers in Atlanta quoted me a price of ? plus ? shipping to Macon (70 miles) including tax which you shouldn't have to pay, total is going to be ?. My truck is white and they come in either white or black so I will not have to paint mine. They are good quality lids just like the ARE.The ARE's have too much of a rise for me.They are designed to match the lines of the hood on the truck they are being installed on.I like the smooth lines of the Gaylord.  My.02
