05 Tahoe Wiring Question

There is a wire that comes from the firewall and attaches to the hood in the rear portion. Looks like it would have been for a light, but the cheapos don't put underhood light there anymore. Anyone know what it is for? Thanks

Ground wire.... All body panels which are "loose", will have a ground strap or wire connecting the panel to the rest of the chassis. This keeps a constant negative voltage or ground. Knocks down on static on the radio, among other things.
