oil drain plug

Yesterday a friend of mine ran over my drain plug with his utility trailer when he was over visiting. While it looked like nothing bad happened to the plug, I was curious as to the magnet tip of the plug eventually coming off or loose. Has anyone heard of this coming out/off of the oil plug? I'm not sure the type of plugs used on the newer trucks, but on my 1998 I have that little magnet tip at the end of the plug.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you can pull the magnet out with your hands. After all, it is a magnet and will be attracted to the plug. Mine is slightly loose (cannot pull out) and has been since day 1.

If it is not attracted to the plug, it will go to the pan. I would not worry about it if it were mine. But then I would probably replace it.
