found a bracket for 05 Front License Plate

Dealer sent me a bracket that's for a GMC but it works on my 05 1500HD chev almost as nicely.

I mounted it upside down compared to what the sketched showed for a GMC which allowed me to mount it with only 2 screws. You will need longer 1/4" screws than what comes with your plate, but the long screws will run completely through your tag and the plastic bracket and into the holes already found in your chevrolet bumper.

 

GMC part# on the installation sketch is 15199887

It seems to NOT hang 100% vertically, but rather it now hangs a bit toward the truck at the bottom edge, but it doesn't wobble and it looks waaaayyyy better than that sharp edge of the tag flapping out in the wind waiting to catch your leg as you walk by.

I don’t understand why GM changed the bumper and on a few years put the holes so close together. On the old bumpers, 99-02, you don’t need a silly plate holder, you just put the plate screws into the bumper. Why go through the expense of making a bracket?
