New Speakers

Recommended Posts

I would like to upgrade the speakers in my 2001 GMC HD 2500. What speaker sizes should I go with, and what brand is recommended? I want something that is less expensive, but still provides a great sound clarity!

Thanks!

I went with the Kappa's on my 99. Good clarity but don't expect a whole lot of sound with stock amp and deck. Amp them with an aftermarket deck and amp. A heck-of-alot of difference.

I looked at the Infinitys, but decided due to price to go with a set of Pyle 4.5's with satelite tweeters. They came with passive crossovers for 55 dollars for the set. I mounted the tweeters in the side panel above the seat belt mounting point to direct the highs at the passengers. I am pleased with the sound and better pleased with the cost. Put 6.5's same config in the doors. Use a pyle amp to drive them with the original head unit. The amp had high level inputs, so for the high fidelity guys, they might say it is not the crispest sound, but that system is for the house, not driving down the road. Also moving to El Paso Texas, and all this stuff may wind up across the river some day. Heard it is high theft area.

For 15 years I instaaled car stereos and had to fix the head units. Although the delco is not a high fidelity sound system, it lasts long enough for me, and isn't an additional cost outlay. Like I said the sorround sound high fidelity is for the house when I can listen in my jockeys and REALLY enjoy it.

Found all my stuff on ebay and seemed reasonable to me comparing prices. Got some stuff from Crutchfield as well.

Hope this helps.
