2005 Tahoe with Bose (Single CD) system and Onstar..

Can I add XM radio to the stock head unit? I think I might want to jump into Sattelite....

I think those radio are satellite radio ready and will allow text and other information to display.. if you want factory xm -- call the dealer to set it up, if you want aftermarket, they are lots of options..

I am not aware of any way for us at the dealer to add XM to an existing radio. No one has ever asked so I haven't researched this in great detail, but I know we can't just turn an option on in the existing radio. Then there's the roof mounted antenna that ain't there.

Text and information displaying is called RDS and is in just regular ol' radios. Nothing very special about that. That's just data carried along with the FM signal and has nothing to do with satellite.

Adding XM radio isn't that hard. I'm fairly sure it requires the XM tuner (available lots of places now, including Circuit City), a module to connect between the tuner and your radio so they can properly "talk" to each other (this is where JPCustoms comes in handy- CC and other such stores generally only sell modules for Sony / Pioneer / Alpine / etc.), and an antenna. Of all the parts the antenna install will be the hardest.
