Green Keys Installed

Installation took about an hour and a half...not bad for my first time. It rides like crap...gonna have to lift the back an inch or two and see if that helps. I used a 1/2" spacer in the shock and I gained 2" of lift.

Your ride won't get any better by lifting the rear, but the truck will look better. The bars now have more load on them and you don't have the bump stops to cushion your ride. Also you mentioned on another post about "4 wheel Disc brakes with the new Front Calipers". What did they do to change them?

btw...thanks for this link www.fullsizechevy.com/fscu/fordkeys.shtml that was a big help!

hmmm...don't remember what post that was...could have been about the 1/2 tons for 05 where they went to drum rears and improved disks in the front. I think I was saying that they should put the 4 wheel disk back on and keep the improved 1/2 ton calipers with larger rotors.

As far as the lift...I love the way it looks but the ride suffers greatly. I may turn the torsion bars down alot more to get some sort of dampening. Right now it feels like I am driving a brick...

The post was titled"Wish List for the New 2007 GM Trucks".

With my 02 Burban(Before the lift) I cranked up the bars just to level it out and it rode like a brick as well. When I put the RCD lift in I had to replace the lower Ball joints because they were shot. It's easy to say go get a lift kit but from what I have learned jacking up your truck with T-bars and rear blocks does more harm than good because the front end doesn't seem to like being cranked up to far and it seems to cause excessive wear on the front components. You are most welcome for the link. :fume::mad::D

Turned the torsion bars down 6 turns...lost .5" of lift but it rides like it did when I picked it up from the dealership! Now to see how many turns I can crank it back up before I loose the ride quailty, then off to alignment.

Remember....it may be the shocks actually holding the truck down. It may look like 2" gained, but if you unhook the shocks it might pop up 4". You did the right thing by cranking it back down. I had mine what I thought was level, when I took it to the shop to have it aligned and install the shocks, he found a totally different situation. He removed the front shocks and the truck was sittin Cali style....waaay up in the front end.

I took the shocks off to add the spacers after I finished up installing the keys. It went up a bit, but I had enough slack to put them back in with the spacers installed. I think the suspension was just maxed out...
