Magnaflow Exhaust on EC/SB 6.0

I have an '03 HD as listed and was going to get the Magnaflow 15789 cat-back. I was on the phone with John at www.hottexhaust.com today and he informs me Mag does not make a cat-back for my truck and the 15789 (for the CC/SB) can not be easily customized to fit. I mentioned to him that I had read several testimonials on the Mag system on GM-Trucks.com and this is what I wanted. He stated he gets 4-5 requests per week for my set-up and stated that if anyone in the S. California area wanted to be a "guinea pig" for a free pilot exhaust system so Magnaflow could build one, that could possibly be arranged. I am in Missouri or I would volunteer. After one has been fitted he said there is a great chance that one would be available. Anyone have anyother input?? Thanks

Well it's definitely a good deal any time you can get something for free, but why not just get the replacement muffler and use your stock pipe?

Sounds real good as a friend of mine has this on his '04 6.0, costs less and the piping will probably last longer.

I had the magnaflow muffler put on my truck, not the full cat-back system. You will not be sorry witht the sound it make the truck happy.

I agree. The stock exhaust is nice (stainless). I will eventually have my stock muffler cut out and a aftermarket welded in. I too am considering the magnaflow. Waiting to hear one on someones truck first. The sound bytes on the websites suck.

The guy at my local Truck Performance shop came out and measured my pipes and told me that Magnaflow does not make a Muffler that will fit my stock pipes, he said that they would have to weld in adapters and all sorts of stuff....in his words..."It would be a hack job". Do they make a direct fit??, is it that difficult to weld it to the stock pipes??, I'd love to get the Magnaflow, but $650 for the Cat back system is too much.

CALL MAGNA FLOW. I call them once a week. I have talked to the guy in tech support. They have a SS cat back system already design or so he told me but they are back logged in production. They were suppose to be releasing it end of April but that came and went. Now he tells me squekie wheel gets the oil. He said that they produce according to what they get the most calls about. 1-800-824-8664 Make sure you tell them you have been waiting, ask for a release date, what is the hold up, . . .

I'm waiting for 15871 -- SS cat back for 8.1L Ext Cab. It even says on their web site that it is coming soon . . . only problem is it has said that for months . . .

Frank, Are you saying that the Magnaflow Muffler for the 8.1 is a better fit??, not the Cat Back system, I just want the Muffler. Whats the differance between the 6.0L Muffler & the 8.1L Muffler??.

That's the way it works with the Flowmaster. Exhaust shops put the dual in/dual out 50 series on the 6.0 that's actually designed for the 8.1 so I'd like to think that Magnaflow would be the same or at least similar.
