Time for that 100,000 mile tranny swap. Got a 01' 2500HD with the 6.0L. I found a tranny on GM Performance Parts, the beefed up 4L85E, I want to swap this for the not so impressive 4L80E. Technical questions:


1. Does it bolt directly up, i.e. transfer case and engine alignment?


2. Do I need to reprogram the computer, and if so, how?


3. Is it worth it? Total on tranny and torque converter is about $2300 and I will do the swap myself, or would I be better off going to BOB"S Transmission and have them do a rebuilt 4L80E for $1800, labor and tranny.
