headlight shut off...

i posted here about a month or two ago looking for a way to disable the twilight sentinel on my 99 silverado (they hadn't put the dome-light trick on yet).  i finally found time to do the job this weekend with the instructions i received.  Thanks a million to all the guys who replied and helped me out!!!

I pulled the dash (top) off and the sensor was VERY easy to get at and the resistor slid right in.  everything works great now!!!!

Coming on base this morning was the first time in 2 years that i haven't felt guilty for blinding the guard.  i haven't woken my landlords by coming home late and leaving early for the entire weekend!  I was able to surprise my girlfriend (pleasantly) by showing up without the lights announcing my presence 3 minutes before i reach the door!

it's a wonderful feeling to have things work the way they're supposed to!!!!

Yeah...I am not sure about the '99s but as for my '01, all you have to do to turn of the DRL's is push and depress the dome override button a few times until it beeps, and that allows you to operate your headlamps with the accessories switch. It also works for at night. For all of you that didn't know that. Read your manuals. ;)

SLEloki:  The 99's don't do that.  They also require a dealer's computer to shut the autodoor looks off.  A real pain.

I wish there was a little delay in the time before the auto lamps kick on.  Every time our 01 get's backed out of the garage the lights come on, and stay on for at least a minute.  It's really not a big deal, just annoying.

I'm ordering the R&D Headlight Override Switch this evening.  I thought about doing the free mod, but I like having the switch with the option of auto headlight or manual at the touch of the button.  I've been wanting it since last fall, but just finally gettting around to buying it.  I plan on taking some pictures and doing a tech article on the installation that will be sent in to this site (along with a few other things I've installed).
