so we have the volant (looks like an idea)

True flow nice red color but just an air tube

K and N 70 series just a tube and open air filter

Im leaning to Volant , seems to make sence with closed cold air.

what you word guys

I was just looking at a volant. Doesn't look much better than the stock box. It has a smooth tube, but still has the little resonator pocket. Looks like it would seal better against the engine, but that may come at the cost of less air flow.

I really don't like the intakes with the metal tubes. Seems that would transmit heat from the engine into the air flow. One type K&n and several others use a metal tube.

I have an AEM Brute Force on my Silverado and I like it. He heat issue you mentioned above is addressed on the AEM Website. To me, it is not much of a big deal and I do feel a seat of the pants power increase with the intake.

I would like to throw another system in the running here. I just bought an outlaw system a few weeks ago and it is a very nice setup. One of the best made aftermarket products I have ever bought. I can't seem to find it now but I had seen on another forumn someone dyno tested a few of these systems and the outlaw gave the best performance increase. Remember we are talking about small numbers so I think any one of them would be OK.

TBYRNE Motorsports is selling outlaw intakes now for $250. If you go down about 20 or so posts in the this forumn you will see his posting and it has pictures.

I have the volant system and I've been happy with it. I have noticed a small difference in performance and it looks great under the hood. Very well made and fits perfectly. I haven't tried any other intakes so I have nothing to compare it with, but I have no regrets buying the volant. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

Bluetahoe- congrats on the Outlaw, now I'm not the only one.

I truely believe that the quality speaks volumes on this product. But you can't see quality in a pic. It will take some time for people to slowly start to see it in person to really gather how nice the system is. The filter is an awesome design. I saw their ad in "Trucks" magazine. It shows the cut-a-way filter and a brief description of the pieces of it.

Some people don't like change very much (especially technology that the regular Joe don't understand until it is explained to them, so they will probably have a slow time (in the beginning) convincing people it is better. But after talking to them on the phone I am convinced they will grow popluar in time. I personally like the fact that they actually do R&D.

I give AEM props also. But they are stuck in the heatshield battle with all of the other brands. Nobody has attempted to do anything different with intakes for many years now except for making the tube out of steel vs. alum vs. plastic. But they forget they are all using the same designs.

Ok I'm getting of the soapbox.

I am going with either king cobra (ram air kit) or the Outlaw intake. From what I hear the Volant does not do much at all.
