1998 GMC1500 door mirror removal

If I remove the small triangular panel inside the door (near front edge, top of door panel), can I access the hardware to remove the door mirrors on this truck?  I want to paint the mirrors, they are in terrible shape.  How do I remove the movable portion of the mirror from the base? (Torx bolts from the bottom?)

Ya pull the little plastic piece off and there should be a wiring harness and three bolts to remove the mirror's completely.  As for the mirror itself, you should be able to remove it through the edge that's hooked onto the truck.
