2005 GMC Envoy Questions

Sold my 2000 Silverado and bought a 2005 GMC Envoy SLT and I love it! Would like to make a few exterior upgrades though.

(1) Since I have running boards, can I only put the black plastic molded GMC splash guards on the rear or will they fit on the front as well?

(2) Bugflector worth it?

(3) Thinking about the clear bra paint protection kit from X-Pel, anyone have it?

(4) Any ideas on what the new 18" wheels will look like for the Envoy? I'm thinking about some decent looking 20s if the GM 18s aren't anything decent. Any recommendations on a nice looking 20" wheel and tire package? I don't want it to look like a "G" ride though.

I have GM running boards on my truck and the molded guards will fit in the back but I put the flat style, that fit inside the wheel well, on the front for protection. I never heard of the x-pel but 3M makes a nice plastic bra as well that some on this board have and like.

Thanks! Hard to tell if I like them enough to get those or a nice set of 20s.

Envoy Fan - what are the specs on your wheels? Size? Brand? B.S? Tire size, etc...?

So looks like I can only get the GMC brand plastic molded splash guards for the rear and I have to get a "flat" style for the front with the running board? Can anyone confirm this on the Envoy?

Thanks guys!

Can't say for absolutely sure for the Envoy, but the 2003 Trailblazer I had was fine with the factory running boards + the molded GM (Chevy logo) mud guards. This was despite several posts I'd read around the internet to the contrary. I suspect you could buy the set and if you found that they didn't fit with the boards you could return the mud guards (after all, you'll have to test fit before final attachment anyway).

I'd ask the parts department about returns before buying just to make sure, but my local dealership folks claim to be fine with that (never actually ended up returning anything to them though).

The wheels are 20" Chrome American Racing Piranha's with 32mm offset. Tires are 265/50/20's

They look nice! Did they require any spacers or anything to get them to fit or was it just a bolt on and go situation?

What is a ball park figure for a decent set of 20" wheels and 265/50-20 tires?

They were bolt on and go :seeya:

I've seen 20" chrome wheels on Ebay for $8 to 900.00 plus shipping. Tires will be $4 to 500 with some mount and balance costs. Unfortunately there are some cheap wheels available that are gonna be a problem down the road. Just have to do some homework. Same with tires. A lot of guys go with Goodyear Eagle GTII's cause they are inexpensive. I am not personally a goodyear fan anymore.

I have an 2004 GMC Envoy SLT, I'm considering to buy a 20" wheels or 22".

If I put 20" or 22" to my Envoy, it will reduce the horsepower?

Depending on the weight of the new tire and wheel, there may be some small mileage and performance loss.
