Recommended trans cooling pan

I wish I could recommend the PML pan I have, but it needs a redesign. It's for the older trucks that have their exhaust routed differently.

I had to wrap my exhaust to contain some heat. It's great when you're rolling, but it was terrible when I had to sit in traffic idling.

Now that I'm wrapped, it's fine. But, I had to remove the factory heat shield.

PML is one of my sponsors, and they make great products for sure. I contacted them and showed them all the pics, so it's in the redesign-consideration process right now. It's an easy fix, but tooling for it is not cheap. I explained they're missing a HUGE market, so I expect the new pan soon.

But for the older GM trucks, I highly recommend it :chevy:

Also note the killer FilterMag- another awesome item I highly recommend :)

Well I ordered a TCI model 278000 tranny pan. I just looked under the truck to see if everything checked out ok, and guess what. It wont fit. It will hit the crossmember and mount for the tranny. :D

Does anyone know of another pan that will fit?

Well, let me throw something out there regarding the PML pan-

See that heat wrap on my pipe ?? It's not there for looks !!

The PML 4L80E pan was designed for the last generation of trucks, not the new one. The way the pipes route on the new trucks, the pan needs a bevel cut in it on the passenger side.

I had to remove the factory heat shield, and then there is- literally- about

an 1/8" gap between the pan and the exhaust.

PML is a sponsor, the pan was for a write-up. I contacted them about the issues with the new trucks. They were looking into a redesign, but I never heard back.

I'm emailing him now :D
