Valve noise

I'm getting the valve noise on my 04 Silverado LS 4.8, at 18k. this only happens at idle when at normal temp, it's not a tick, it's more like a cladder on and off,

and when you rev the eng it goes away, and there is no valve cladder on hard accelerations

I know when I take this in they will say NORMAL, Does anybody else have this noise and what did they say to you.

Also the dealer said when I bring it in the Service Manager will have to listen to it and make a desion on what they will do about it :chevy:

Tick or knock. Mine ticks at startup but goes away after a while. Mine also gets worse before I do a TOP ENGINE CLEAN but then comes back after 10K or so. It has done it since new. It got more quiet after switching to Mobil 1 at 5K but still does it. I'm at 148K now and it still runs like a champ so I don't think it is causing any problems.

The truck runs great but it's just Annoying! and it does it only at idle, and just started doing it at 18k, I took it to the dealer and the Service Manager listend to it and they made me an appt monday morning to look at it

Hot days it is worse and here in texas we have alot of them.

PISTON SLAP!!!! I have a 2004 with the 5.3L V8 and I have the same thing. I think I have piston slap not valve knock. Mine does it on start up goes away after 30 seconds of idle. Used to run Mobil 1 5w30 but said hell with that and went to 15w50 for it. I have 15K and change on the truck. I've been keeping a close eye on oil consumption (very near zero) and MPG. As soon as one of those goes south, I'm hitting the dealership.
