fuel injector service, TB service

Anyone know exactly what is involved in the TB and/or injector service? Seems like my truck likes to gum up pretty regularly and Id like to be able to do this myself. Ive noticed my mileage drop, my gas pedal sticking until I hit it the first time, and an overall sluggish running when it gets bad.

I had one dealer charge me $100 for TB service, and another $100 or thereabouts for injector service. I questioned them on it and they said its two different services. Last time I went there! The shop Im having handle it now is an even $100 for the job.

My last cleaning required me to bring the truck in twice because it was so bad, they couldnt get it totally clean the first time. I brought it back the next week and they finished it up. Something about he can only run so much solvent thru the motor at one time.

What all is involved? Is it an easy job for a motor head? Is the job just in the TB or is there cleaning of the MAP sensor in the intake tube also? TIA

The TB on the new motors does carbon up fairly easily. Just get some TB or carb cleaner and do it yourself with a rag and a toothbrush.

And cleaning the injectors would be seperate.
