1995 GMC Suburban K1500 4WD

Ok, hopfully I have your attention now.

q1) 1995 Suburban K1500 vs K2500, wheres the difference? Brakes? Trans? Suspension? Motor has less power per published information (5.7)......

q2) What tranny should I have? 4e60 (I have the 16 bolt pattern)?

q3) Std on the 5.7 was what? 52mm or 5xmm or ??? TBI

q4) Towing buffs...My pillar tag does NOT tell me what the towing capacity is. It DOES give me the GVWR but not GCVWR or towing capacity. Published info varies from 6k to 10k.... 3.73:1 with the 5.7 TBI will pull what?

q5) Motorheads, your attention please. Thanks. 1995 5.7 Subs had what block? 4 bolt or two? Cast or forged crank? Will same vintage lt1 heads peform better than the late model vortec heads?Silly question really, more of a test to see if you're reading the whole post. I have the towing package, like that makes a difference.

I'm going to pull a 12k TT with this so I want to make sure it can handle it.....ha, ya right, another spot check. I'm only pulling a 6k tt....

Lets here from you...

Axles, brakes, frame, transmission

1500 has a 4L60, 4L60E or 700R4, depending on year. I THINK they had all gone to 4L60E by 1995.

Sorry, don't know

The Sub is a heavy truck, 3.73 may be a little short for pulling 6k with it, again I'm not much help here, sorry.

My parents had to upgrade to a 3/4-ton Ram with a Hemi and 4.10's (from a Durango with 360 engine and 3.92 axles) to comfortably tow a 6,000+ lb trailer. Maybe apples to oranges, but it'll give you an idea. Brakes, engine cooling and axle strength are big factors. Of course, they're now looking at bigger trailers since they can tow them easier, it's a never-ending cycle. I hope I was able to help you SOME anyway...

Why did the quote changes not work?
