2002 2500HD Diesel

My buddy has found a MINT 2002 2500HD 4X4 diesel super crew. This thing is perfect..no paint work, leather, optioned out..really like new..even smells new. It has 103,000 miles and runs like new. It has a brake controller on it so they towed something with it. No holes in the bed so it wasn't a fiver..probably a travel trailer. Any issues with these trucks with this kind of mileage??

Thanks

This might not help you much,But a buddy of mine has an '03 Duramax Crew-Cab with over 217,000 miles on it and he's had very little problems.

One issue GM/Isuzu was (And still is on some) having on the DMAX are the injectors,He had his replaced at 197,000 miles and GM still covered them,I'm not sure but I think GM's covering them up to 200,000 miles.

I am only a couple of months from 100K and the only mechanical item I have had replaced is the A/C compressor last week at 89K. I don't think your buddy will be disappointed if the price is right.

The only thing that I can think of is the balljoints and tie rod ends might be pretty worn and need replacement soon, but thats not too bad of a job. If it still has factory size tires, the wear will be less.

Also, the factory pitman and idler may be worn because it is a common problem.

They wouldn't stop me from buying it though, sounds like a great truck.

Sounds like I just bought almost the identical truck, except with the 8.1 and 106K miles.

The items the others suggested are the case with mine, and the tranny/rear end/ axels are all good so I'd assume the same for yours. The only difference being the engine. And if it matters mine runs great.

Go for it if the price is right. GM has extended the injector warranty on 2002 & 2001 Duramax's to 200K or 7 years with a $100 deductible and injectors is the only problem with Duramax's. If it's that clean, more than likely they took good care of the engine and tranny too.
