Port Fuel Injection?

Does anyone know what year GM started putting the port injected 5.7's in the trucks?

1996 with the intro of the Vortec.

I only say this because a bunch of sites I've went to to get the right answer say that the TPI system (which I'm guessing is what you're asking about) was introduced originally in 1985 for the Vettes and F-body cars, and nothing much more than that except for a part on ECMs where the TPI was mentioned for the C/K GM trucks in 1996. I believe the trucks before 1996 were all TBI injected and I'm not sure that that's the same as port injection.
