4 Headlight Conversion

Recommended Posts

I have been wondering why these trucks dont use all four headlights at night when on highbeam? I see there is a conversion kit that you can buy that has a relay to turn all four on at the same time. Most of my driving is at night down country roads so this would be a great upgrade to my truck. Any opinioins on this would be appreciated.

I think there was a thread on this in the Aftermarket Forum last week, maybe MountaineerTom will post, I think he's done that conversion, or at least know where to get it.

I guess what I mean is, yes, it's available in the aftermarket.

Yep, I bought the kit from R&D.  Easy install and easy to follow instructions.  Here's a link to their web site:  http://www.truckautoaccessories.com/  They also have a toll free number (1-877-865-4450) if you prefer for place an order over the phone.  They have some odd hours though.  According to the message on their answering machine, they are 6-9 pm, Monday-Thursday, central time.

The part is # 1259 and it's called the Headlight Controller.  ?.95 + S/H.

I personally think it makes a big difference.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info Tom.  I've been thinking of doing the same because I'm out driving at night in the boonies too, but I don't want more aftermarket driving lights on the front of my truck.  Most of those get beat up and cracked from gravel flung by the driver's in front of you.  I'd rather take advantage of what I have and at ?, that sounds pretty good!  Thanks again-

I don't think it will work on your truck K.C.  All the kits I've ever seen are for truck with 4 actual lights(2 low beam bulbs, 2 high beam bulbs).  There may be a kit for the 2 headlight truck, but I'm not sure.  R&D should be able to tell you if their kit will work.

Thanks Tom, this is exactly what I was looking for. I saw a kit in the Summit Magazine. This must be the one you were referring to on your webpage.:)Also ? is way better than ? for HID.

I think the one I had the first time came from Stylin Concepts.  The low beams dimmed a little when the highs came on.  It was totally different setup than the one I got from them for my '91.  That was about 7 years earlier though.
