While driving slowly and applying the brakes slowly, the antilock break system will engage but the dashboard indicator does not light and the brake pedal goes further towards the floor. Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Pretty common problem you could have had an answer immediately by searching.

 

Could be a dirty wheel speed sensor but I think it is just a lousy design and too sensitive. Had a few occassions where I rolled through an intersection after hitting a small bump while braking. Fortunately there was no traffic.

 

Mine has not occurred since upgrading the brakes and tires so it may be a combination of things that causes it.
