I have an 05 Silverado that has the weight activated passenger air bag, I am wanting to install some aftermarket seats but still want the function of the airbag, is there a way to make a jumper for that or is there a plug that someones makes that makes this feature still work???

I fear it's going to be a little more complicated than a jumper or a plug. The PPS (passenger presence system) has it's own little module on the passenger seat that receives input from the pressure pad in the seat, the seat belt retractor, etc., and communicates this information to the SDM (air bag module) via serial data. There's also a seat position sensor so the system knows if the seat is all the way forward or back.

Someone may have designed some sort of module that would report all is A-OK to the SDM, but it doesn't seem likely.

Thanks for the information, it has taken forever for me to find an answer to that question, just wish it could have been better news. oh well, guess i will be saving money not buying aftermarket seats.

unless someone knows how to remove it from the seat and install it in a new seat. which i am sure is just the easiest thing in the world to do. sounds like i am SOL.

Actually, it might not be all that difficult to do. It's just a pressure pad that goes under the seat cover. That's connected to the module. These could probably be transfered to a new seat. If you keep the same seat track and just mount the new seat on the original track, the position sensor will remain the same as always, so no mod needed there.

The seat belt retractor is another story, since that's mounted in the seat. I'm not sure an aftermarket seat would have the provisions for that.
