mass air sensor and engine programmers

I just wanted to know if its possible to add an AFE cold air intake with a Granitelli mass air flow sensor (its cold air tunned) and top it off with a Superchips programmer after the parts are installed. Does the engine programmer and mass air sensor create conflict for the engine?? Or can all parts be added with no problems?

Further more I was considerng a diablo programmer instead of the superchips programmer. The diablo can download custom tunes for vehicles, and could maybe customize to my cold air and mass air sensor so all 3 can be smooth. But finding the customized programing could take some time and too much moneuy for what its worth.

Tanx for reading my post, plz let me know about this subject, I imagine other peeps have the conflict, or hopefully resolutions. TY

I would like to caution you on your selections. Any time you upgrade a mass air meter, the pcm must be custom tuned. I know there are folks getting by without doing this, but this is not the proper way to go. In fact, in some cases the engine may not run at all without a proper custom tune.

You mentioned Superchips. I would encourage you to call Superchips custom tuning (not email) and speak with them about your total plan before you buy anything. They may recommend a different Mass air upgrade. It is critical for them and you to discuss your total plan, then they can give you good advice how best to spend your money.

Depending on your particular situation, you may need to upgrade fuel injectors which also requires custom tuning. Regardless, the transfer function must be calculated properly or you run the risk of running dangerously lean as in piston burning lean.

I don't want to scare you, but I have been down this path with my own truck. I upgraded intake, exhaust, headers, mass air, fuel pump, fuel injectors and a few other things and tied it together with Superchips custom tuning. After loading up my tuning I took my truck down to the chassis dyno and holy smokes I was running 15 : 1 A/F ratios!!!!!!!!!!! Well, the bottom line was that the mass air meter was not producing the commanded A/F. I ended up replacing the mass air meter with a 'stock' 90mm Lightning maf. Now that my tuning is dialed in. I really enjoy driving my old 1998.

Best of luck, but speak to the experts before opening your wallet.
