3" Suspension kit and 285/75/17's

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I was down at my local "Performance Truck Centers" and they were telling about a 3" suspension kit that they had. I was pretty sure they said it was like $800 installed. I was talking to the guy about my 4" Rancho kit that I had before on my '04 Silverado. Which some of you may remember me having and posting pics. I believe he said it was a tuff country or something similar. Does anybody know what they are talking about and is it a good kit? I didn't get alot of info on it. I think it uses leaf springs instead of blocks(could be wrong). Anyway, I wouldn't mind getting it, if its good. But, I would like to go to 285/70/17's. Would that look okay or do I need to go higher? I have the stock 17's. Also, 3:42's gears won't cut it anymore will they? I don't want gas mileage do go to ****. Just need some advice and input.

Thanks,

Chad

Well I've been looking at the 3 inch Rough Country kit for my 97. A local guy at the only decent place around where I live told me that its only good if you already have say maybe a body lift and you want to get maximum crank out of your torsion bars. All the kit does is drop you diff 3 inches and give you a tubular upper control arm so you don't have to worry about it hitting the front bumpstop. If you want serious lift, go with the 4 inch you'll be happier. I'm probably going to get this kit for my truck because I want to run a 36x13.50 and I don't want my CV angles to be as harsh as they are now
