rear end capacity

What is the capacity for a 2000 Silverado 1500 non G80 rear end? Number of quarts? Just had the dealer replace the rear end under aftermarket warrenty and is charging $110 for lube.

Without knowing exactly which axle you have, I can't say positively, but none of the regular size axles take more than 3 quarts. The most takes 2.7 quarts.

 

The synthetic lube is not cheap, though $110 sounds a bit much. If they charged out 4 quarts, I could see it coming near that price.

 

I assume your aftermarket warranty does not pay for the lube and that's why you're asking?

rear diff lube part # 12378261 synthetic lube cost from gm is $29.02 per quart yours hold 3 quarts which should come out to $87.06
