Change Engine Oil light

heavy4x4

Question

Today my "Change Engine Oil" light came on in my message center thingy. I followed the procedure outlined in the owners manual to reset it (I recently had it changed and go off the 3 month/3,000 miles anyway) but it did not reset.

Anybody else have trouble resetting theirs? Is this a common problem? I've tried several times, but it still flashes 5 times when I start my truck. I want it gone.

If I disconnect the battery for 1 minute, will that reset the computer's memory and start the oil-life program from the beginning?

Thanks,

-Steve

They can be a real pain to reset some times. I have no idea why it's so difficult. There have been times when I've had to get out the Tech 2 scanner and use that to reset the oil life. That never fails.

However, if it's blinking, that's an indication that it is resetting. It may do that a couple times when you start the truck, but it should clear on it's own.

Disconnecting the battery won't put the oil life to 100% that I'm aware of.
