Hole in my boot, now what?

Recommended Posts

One of my uppers has a big hole. The first time I lubed it water actually got pushed out, but there wasn't any visible rust. Since then I change the oil when indicated and always make sure to flush the joint completely with extra grease. It's been over a year and 15K later and so far it's fine. So you can grease it more often and especially ASAP after going through water that can cover it. My trucks previous owner was young and dumb but I was able to buy the truck before he could really hurt it.

If you do choice number 1 for very long you'll have to do choice number 3 anyways so they should be one big choice. lol

I wouldn't worry. I have had that happen on other vehicles. I just make sure to grease it every oil change or sooner if it seemed to be getting tougher to turn. No use replacing a part that still functions. If you go offroad or in wet areas I might grease it more often.
