Hecktorx Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 After 2 lube jobs and one replacement shaft completed by the dealer, I bit the bullet and bought the replacement shaft from Borgenson. I just got tired of the feeling that my front end is about to fall out. Not one trip to the dealer fixed the problem for more then 8,000 miles. The install was a little tough. The clearance between the 2 shafts was so tight, it was very difficult to extend when I was installing it. Overall, the new shaft looks to be a much stronger piece. I hope it lasts.
tryn2lrn Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Did the replacement shaft you had done start to exhibit the same issue as the previous design as well. If this shaft design fixes the problem why doesn't GM adopt a similar design???
Hecktorx Posted October 18, 2005 Author Posted October 18, 2005 The GM replacement shaft did last longer then the lube job by about 3000 miles but still came back. Money is probably the reason for not using the aftermarket shaft. It's basically the same design, just made with better materials and tigher tolerances.
