Yukon vs. Tahoe

Recommended Posts

Outside of some cosmetics, what is the main difference between the Yukon and the Tahoe? Is one model supposed to be a more upscale version of the other?

Is one manufactured on a more limited number of units? I read somewhere that the production of Tahoe's is much larger than the Yukon's. I don't remember the exact number though.

Finally, price. Comparing a similar trim, is there a significant difference on the price between these two models?

Is it that owners of the Tahoe like Chevy and Yukon like GMC or what is the determining factor for purchasing one model over the other?

IMO nothing but a personal choice on appearance. They are made on the same assembly line. I have found the GMC to be a couple hundred more expensive when I compared back in 01. Yukon tends to be the more luxury model including the higher end Denali. I'd guess 2/3 Chevy, 1/3 GMC for production numbers.

From my opinion and recently just purchasing a used Yukon, if you load out a Chevy, you end up with a base model GMC, then if you load out a GMC, you get a Caddy.

It was amazing, I found several Yukons cheaper than Tahoes with more features and cheaper with same or less mileage. Not sure why.

Mechanically, identical. As mentioned, only real difference is appearance and features.

In the old day's the GMC was primarially a work truck with chevy ranging from w/t to silverado. Now they both can be outfitted with nothing or everything. Unless buying brand new (ordering)you at the mercy of what's in stock. Usually your dealer will stock low mid and high end with "package" deals on most or factory grouped options for a sale price. Both are technically the exact same truck.

On a related topic....I've been seeing these "touch screen" radios in a few Denali's. Is this Denali/GMC specific or are they available in the tahoe/Chevy versions? It was kind of neat. I have a Silverado LT series. Was wondering how hard it would be to switch over, if it was possible.
