Tranny, Rear End and Power Steering

Is it common on a new Suburban 2500 with a 8.1 to have a such a loud whinny noise coming from the tranny and or rear end. I am being told by a GM master tech from the dealer that it common on all 3/4 ton vehicles. I also have an extremely loud hydro assisted steering pump whine. Is this a fact or am I being B.S`d???? The vehicle has only about 3,000 miles on it and it all seemed to start around 2.000 miles. Any hepl would be appreciated on this.

The 4L80E trans is not the quietest trans in the world, particularly in first gear. Is that where you're getting the whine? Power steering/hydroboost should be pretty quiet.

 

Anything mechanical is going to make some level of noise, but without hearing the noises, I can't tell you if it is normal or not.

Yeah it is from first gear only but the steering noise is all the time and GM says it`s from the 20inch wheels.
