here is the list ive gone threw ... plz let me know what the loudest on the market is i want to hear POWER AND MAKE THE TRUCK ROAR

1st exhaust on my silverado was a 80seires camaro/firebird cross flowmuffler

2nd exhaust was a 40 series with 2.5 in single in dual out

3rd exhaust 40 series 3 single in and 3 in dual out

Why must you be "loud"? Are you trying to prove something? The loudest isn't all the best, and half the time, something loud, takes away the low end rumble.

However, if you must, I think your best bet is another 40 series, but MAKE SURE it's the standard 2 chamber model. I'd bet money that wherever you took, they install the newer Delta-flow 3 chamber model. They could have installed a 2 chamber Delta flow, but there's STILL a big difference in sound between it and the true original 40 series.

If you're still wanting louder than that, you'll need to look into the bullets, or some form of race exhuast. Just don't come around my neighborhood. :shakehead:

sounds like u got delta flows installed so i would go ahead and put 2 3in 40series original flows

have them make sure there not super 40s or deltas and u should be happy

my trucks the loudest around here as long as u dont count straight pipes

here is the best idea for a loud truck: 40 series muffler single in with dual out turn-downs. The key is a cut-out before the muffler that lets some of the exhaust out and makes the truck REALLY LOUD!! SO, when i am around town i have the cut-out off and then when I get on the interstate for a trip I throw the cut out on and it is still loud but just a nice rumble.

with this set-up you still keep the truck functional when giving people rides, driving with your grandmother, and good stuff like that.

Then when you are by yourself or running around with friends your truck will be the loudest truck around.

My truck has this set up and I went through 5 exhausts before getting this set-up correctly. My truck is by far the best sounding silverado in knoxville :D and probably in the top 5 out of all the trucks here. I get questions almost everytime I drive about what kind of motor I have and I just say it's the exhaust.

turn-downs are the key though :D

Cut outs???

Are you saying there's an open section of your exhuast, in the tubing, before it reaches the muffler?

Hmmmmm............

I will agree with the turndowns. That's where alot of your sound is coming from. The turns downs will bounce the sound off th pavement, and make it rumble throughout the underbody of the vehicle........giving it somewhat of a megaphone effect.

My bullets arent as loud as I 'wanted' but they still let the little civics in the neighbourhood know who's boss in the early hours! (I'm the local alarm clock) So if you want loud....go Bullets...I'd do it again if I had to.

basically yes, it's like a really small y with one pipe going into the muffler and the other dumping straight down. A cap can be put on the end of the open one. So it's pretty cool.

No offense, but that's the goofiest thing I've ever heard of.

You do realize that's screwing with your back pressure, and probably hurting your acceleration, right?

NO motor, unless it has some sort of forced induction, or it's a massive big block race engine, benefits from a drastic increase in exhuast exit. That's why nobody recommends going from 2.5 to 3inch exhuast. It's the same concept.

I do understand that and the guy at the shop said it still would have PLENTY of backpressure due to the converters and the 2 into 1 system. The cut-out is directly befor the muffler.

So, I believed him since he seem to know what he was talking about. Let me know if this is wrong information.

also, on my bike I have the exhaust baffles drilled out so it basically has very little back pressure. If this is suppossed to hurt the accleration then explain how it has more horspower after the removal of the baffles and a jet kit.

also, from my little understanding of the physics of back pressure I would make the assumption that a true dual exhaust would have less back pressure than my setup. The true dual set-up would give each side of the motor its own seperate exhaust and with a high preformance muffler it would probably have less backpressure than all eight cylinders going into one exhaust with basically no muffler.

Please explain.

Is the cap for the cutout a flanged connection? A friend of mine has it done to his Z28...it sounds nice. I didn't really look at his setup though to see how it was done. How much do you think it would cost to have a cutout added?

I am new here and this is my first post. But, I have a 93 K1500 with a 350. I ran true dual exahust with 2 original 40 series flowmaster mufflers along with an H pipe and 4 inch slash cut tips. If I had to guess, this would be the sound you are looking for. But, thats just a guess

What I really like about it is it's quite in the cab and at idle, but when you really get on her, she makes a fair amount of noise.

I noticed a big increase in throttle response also.

Don't now how much this here is gonna be worth to you, but I was recently looking to make some decent noise out of my truck and was looking downthe same route. I looked into Cut-outs myself. I deceided against it for 2 reasons: 1, They cost quite a bit to get the electronic ones, who are known for sticking... ( the manual ones mean you have to crawl under and remove wing-nuts, (no offense to "WingNut" ) 2, They kill you're low end performance. That's what kills me the most on the newer trucks, with the Torque-Management B.S. It only appeared to help onthe freeway. I personally almost never hit freeways. I didn't want to lose what little grunt my truck had to start with. Like I said, don't know how much it's gonna help you, but that's just my little bit of brains....

A loud truck seldom hits deer. (unless you're ina field)

Let 'em know you're comin' so they got time to hide...
