transfer case questions on 99 Silverado

I noticed last night that my front end wasnt locking in when the light on the 4 hi buton is lit (auto trac transfercase ) and am now going to go and try to source out the problem.From talking to a mechanic friend and a few others that have had GM trucks apparently the shift motor is a spot to look for a possibly non working unit but I havent had the chance to check mine yet.Are there any other model GM trucks that use the same shift motor if I indeed need to go this route?I just want to know my options here if I do need to replace this.Thanks

 

ps I also noted that my auto 4x4 lite wasnt liteing when I pressed it so possibly the button module needs to be replaced?

There's a lot of diagnostic capability built into these things. Get it checked out by someone that can handle this type of repair and go from there. You could spend a lot of money on the shotgun method of repair and not fix a thing.

 

That said, we have some switch problems, encoder motor sensor problems and programming issues. Take your pick.
